Have you ever been to a yin yoga class? Whether the answer is yes or no, this mini-course is a great way to see what it's all about and take time to support your body and mind.
Week One
Introduction to Yin - a beginners practice
Our first evening will be a gentle and well rounded practice. We will start with the spine and hips, including nourishing rebound poses between postures. We will finish by twisting the body and easing into final relaxation.
Week Two
Yin yoga for the spine
Healthy spine, healthy mind! When our spine is healthy it really does put a spring in our step both physically and metaphorically. We will focus on moving the spine through flexion, extension, lateral flexions and twists. While this practice will seek to encourage a full range of motion, that will look different for everyone. Variations are the spice of yin yoga!
Week Three
Yin yoga for the hips
Hooray! We will focus on internal and gentle external rotation, flexion, extension and abduction and adduction. This week will bring a whole new level to understanding how to play our edges. We will practice acknowledging limitations and releasing unnecessary tension.
Week Four
Yin yoga for the whole body
This week will target many parts of the body that get overlooked in our regular practice (yin or yang) We will work from top to toes using poses for the face and including ankle stretch and toe squat. A long savasana will round out this global practice.
