Event Description

Your feelings on Chaturanga Dandasana may vary but if you practice Ashtanga, Vinyasa or Power yoga you will have come across this pose.  It is not just a funny word your teachers mumbles over twenty times in a class, it is one of the most important foundation poses in a flow class and you will want to understand it from all angles to practice Chaturanga Dandasana safely and effectively.    This asana that offers a beautiful flowing transition in a regular class can often be quick and students can miss the crucial tips and techniques required to execute the pose with strength and flow.  This workshop will guide you and help perfect your flow by developing upper body strength and awareness.  We will be looking at creating a healthy space for wrists, shoulders and hand alignment.  Building strength and lightness in the core of the body to safely and effectively transition in and out of the pose.  As well as looking at the modifications that are available to take during a class, you will receive one on one attention exploring variations with props to gain a better understanding on how to engage correct muscle activation and feedback on improving the smoothness of your practice.    This workshop is open to everyone from beginners that are curious to the specifics of Chaturanga to the more advanced yogi looking to revisit their technique.

ALSO!  Do not be alarmed this is not a class of Yoga press ups for two hours.  We will begin with a flow highlighting strength in the upper body and promoting stability in the shoulders.  We will finish with a restorative flow, savasana and meditation to thank our shoulders (and our bodies) for all their work :)
