Morning session | Functional Yoga Anatomy
9am-1pm

Explore the structure and function of the key joints - shoulders, hips and spine - in terms of how they impact a yoga practice. Understand the key challenges presented by each joint, including common postural misalignments you'll see in your students. Expect the anatomical theory to come vividly alive with joint range-of-motion assessments and clear, practical application to common yoga pose families including standing poses, backbends, forward folds, hip openers, and inversions.

Afternoon session | Key Yoga Transitions2-5pm

It's one thing to understand the impact of joint anatomy in static poses, but another to apply it to maintaining stability during movement. Learn how to help your students maintain integrity in the key joints of shoulders, hips and spine during common yoga transitions. We will break down foundational poses (including tadasana, uttanasana, plank, chaturanga dandasana, urdhva mukha svanasana or upward facing dog and adho mukha svanasana or downward facing dog) and workshop the crucial transitions between them, including the vinyasa flow from plank to chaturanga, plus folding forward and rising back up to standing.
