Event Description

In this workshop participants will be introduced to understanding stress and the benefits of Mindfulness.  We will introduce simple and effective ways to quiet the mind, increase attention, awareness and resilience through gentle mindful practices along with an introduction to understanding stress and the benefits of Mindfulness 


These practices include the following:


  • Follow a mindful yoga practice through gentle guidance
  • Introduction to mindful meditation
  • A body scan practice to learn how to rest and be present and awake in the body



These practices will slow down our pace and in turn give the nervous system a rest.  Building on this practice enriches our lives and brings a sense of wellbeing and peace.



Bio


Donna Wright qualified as a yoga teacher with Marie Quail Yoga Training and Therapy Centre and began teaching in 2002. Yoga has been a wonderful support in terms of health and well being but she was always particularly interested in that Zen moment at the end of a yoga practice. She loved sitting quietly in meditation.  This practice that yoga enabled was powerful despite its simplicity. Inspired by this and with the emerging Mindfulness-Based Approaches available she qualified as a Certified MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) Teacher with the IMA (Institute for Mindfulness-Based Approaches).  The formal practice of mindfully meditating and mindful yoga on a daily basis is continually seeping into her everyday life with all of the positive effects a mindful practice brings - connectedness, compassion and awareness.  


Donna adheres to the Good Practice Guidelines for Mindfulness Teachers, attends yearly retreats and is committed to ongoing professional development.  She is a registered teacher of MBSR and a member of the Mindfulness Teachers Association.
