Yoga Medicine Essentials - 12 hrs CPD with YA

Friday 27th & Saturday 28th September

After decades of working with clients and training teachers, we've distilled the core components of a therapeutic practice into a series of workshops. We will cover topics that are hard to fit into group classes, but are crucial for all yoga practitioners and teachers to understand in order to optimise the way we move and prevent injuries. These workshops outline the structure and function of the major joints as well as the network of connective tissue, or fascia, that supports and coordinates them. You will leave with an arsenal of information to instantly incorporate into your practice and teaching.

Each session begins with a short lecture on an anatomical area, then moves on to explore its therapeutic application through practice to bring the information to life. Each workshop includes a handout you can take home to keep the information fresh in your memory, and is open to both the new and avid yoga practitioner.

Schedule:

  • Friday 8-11am: Shoulder.
  • Friday 12-3pm: Hip.
  • Friday 4-7pm: Spine.
  • Saturday 8-11am Myofascial Release.

About Rachel

Rachel found yoga as a teenager, relishing how it challenged her body and calmed her mind. Over the next 20 years, through a Business Degree, a stint in corporate marketing, and international travels, yoga became a touchstone that she returned to repeatedly until it sparked the idea of something more. In 2011 Rachel finally became a Yoga Alliance registered teacher. Since then she has completed courses in Anatomy & Physiology, Nutrition, Sports Training & Development, Mentoring and Yin Yoga, as well as a 500-hour yoga training with Yoga Medicine, focusing on the anatomy and function of the shoulders, hips and spine. Rachel is now an E-RYT500 yoga teacher and Yoga Medicine teacher trainer based in Queenstown, New Zealand. Rachel continues to study extensively with Yoga Medicine and has been personally mentored by Tiffany Cruikshank. Passionate aboutreal-world application of her studies in anatomy and alignment, she uses yoga to help her students create strength, stability and clarity of mind. She takes her role seriously, but takes herself lightly.
