Small props for big benefits - this training is suitable for all yoga teachers seeking to incorporate props in their classes in a wide range of applications. Utilising resistance bands and belts, blocks and bricks, chairs, small balls and blankets, this course will examine a wide range of possible uses.
Using these versatile props appropriately enable a yoga teacher to bring the full experience of a deep and challenging class to a broader range of students. From athletes with excessively stiff and tight muscles, to seniors with issues around balance and strength, and from beginners with limited flexibility to advanced students seeking that extra challenge.
Yoga teachers can take advantage of these props in order to help their clients develop and enhance proprioception, motor control, strength, balance, flexibility, stability, mobility and relaxation. We will examine a number of issues and applications with each kind of prop and look at a number of different use cases. Students will learn how to safely sequence small props into their classes and into students’ own personal practice.
Coming from a background in movement and dance, Lisa’s interest in yoga was ignited during her Masters in Dance Performance and while on a Movement Research residency programme in New York she trained with YogaWorks. Lisa has been teaching yoga full-time in Ireland for over a decade now and is a senior teacher trainer on the YND faculty. She has written and delivered teacher training modules for the YND 200hr Yoga Teacher Training course and a Yoga Alliance registered Chair Yoga Teacher Training course. Always seeking to bring together the combination of body awareness and mental focus she is passionate about the use of innovative practices to allow more people to feel the benefits of yoga.
